The Men's Group

It's not often we can get away from the kitchen sink or the ironing, but every now and again we escape. Usually twice a year, around April and again in November, the men of our church like to meet for a supper, fellowship and a good chin wag.

We meet in the meeting room at the church to enjoy at least a three-course meal, followed by coffee, biscuits and of course chocolate. After a great deal of banter over supper we sit back and listen to a guest speaker.

In the past we have had speakers on many subjects including: The dales, History of Wetherby, Police Force of the Past, Wetherby in Bloom and, more recently, The mortal remains of those killed at The Battle of Towton, gruesome stuff!!

We endeavour to do all the catering ourselves, however we do get a little help from some of the ladies who usually do some of the cooking (meat), serve the food, followed by tea and coffee and then wash-up; other than that we do everything. Not bad hey!

We haven't yet planned our next meeting but we have had a suggestion that we should have a serious debating chamber on a topical but controversial subject??

Any other suggestions will also be considered.

If you don't usually come to the men's group then please seriously consider it, we really do have an enjoyable time together.
